Drafting

I came down to the chairs holding two copies of my short story and asking if someone wanted to read it. One friend offered, read the first page, handed it back to me and said he had "read this story many, many, many, many times." I squashed my desire to promote my story because this particular friend is well known for being a single-minded, closed off, stubborn little twa amoeba.

My friend Sarah was kind enough to take on the task of actually critiquing my work tonight. She's a lovely person. Rebecca has just taken on the other copy. These friends are good friends.

I'll post pictures of the shirts later. I'm gunna go paint. Toodles.

Still getting survey answers

Some people have very strong opinions and it's amusing. I'm going to create a power point only about other people's thoughts on graffiti and it's going to be beautiful.

In other news, I'm out of black shirts. Also, the color does manage to stick on the black shirts, I just need to use only bright colors. I only need 4 more black shirts, so I think I'll pick some up at k-mart over the weekend or some such.

Now I have 7 shirts down. They're all looking pretty cool. I'm gunna wash them all at some point so as to get the initial crust off.

I'm ditching the vlog idea because I no longer feel like it. No vlogs for you, I'm sorry. I'm gunna print out some copies of my story to give to people. This is going to require a lot of paper.

The story draft is....

Finished. I have finished the first draft of the short story. I have it completed. I debated adding an epilogue, but I want some criticism before I delve into that. Monday I shall print out the story and get my friends to read and critique it. I shall be editing it greatly so that the final piece will be worthy of final presentation.

Man, I am just so great at this whole "getting stuff done" biz. I think I beat Senior spring. I win. Hahaha!

So to summarize what I have so far:
1 short story draft
5 t-shirts
2 documentaries
1 museum trip
1 book read

Parents say they will try to get me a different banksy book. I may very well read some wikipedia articles on graffiti. I should also organize the survey responses  so that I have a coherent presentation on that.

I am quickly learning that black shirts and spray paint do not work that well together. In fact, it takes a crusty amount of spray paint to get the shirts to show any colour at all. I may switch to only white shirts so I don't have to deal with the nonsense. Luckily my mom got me more white shirts, so this will work out nicely. I have no idea what I'll do with the black shirts now.

Oh well, I'll figure it out. Ta ta for now!

Friday was fun and Saturday was calm

I saw Barry McGee at the ICA and his work is pretty cool. Not only does he paint, he does sculpture as well. Some of his pieces were mechanical and active.

On Saturday, I watched a documentary called "beautiful losers" which is about a slew of different graffiti taggers and how they grew as artists. It inspired me to do some art. This is good because I was running out of ideas. I'm debating whether or not I should stick with the original speaking plan or If I can switch to video blogging and make that my speaking part as well as my blogging part. I'll talk about it with barker.

Did you know that most people have such a weak thirst trigger, they often mistake for hunger? I need a glass of water, toodles.

Oh my god life

Today I made the stencil for shirt 5 and wrote another page of short story. I really like how my short story is progressing, even if it seems slow. My problem is that if I cut down what might be considered filler, the story goes too quickly for my tastes. I haven't even gotten to the climax of the story yet. Oh well, I'm just going to keep everything and hopefully someone will kindly edit things down later. Yeah, I'm definitely going to enlist a friend in editing.

Or I can let my story be absurdly long and everyone will have to deal with my brilliance.

That'll be handled later! ^_^

I'm likely going the Institute of Contemporary Art on Friday (for real this time!) and I'll try to snag some pictures from the city. Debating whether or not to find a heavily graffitied wall and tag it. I will take pics if I develop the necessary gonads.

Oh well, that's this post, ta ta for now.

Proposal went well

I presented to the class about what I've done and what I plan to do.

Here's a recap!
I have so far read "Wall and Piece" by Banksy, watched "Robbo vs. Banksy", written 7 pages of short story,  and spray painted 4 of the 12 shirts. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the survey I sent out and all the replies I got. Whoops. Well, I have them and will likely talk about them at the end of the term.

I plan to finish the other 8 shirts (designs may be altered in this time), finish and edit down my short story, visit the Institute of Contemporary Art to see Barry McGee, and get some photos of some graffiti around the city/Groton.

I can totally do that. Yep. Completely. I have all of the confidence.

Praise me

Here, have a physical manifestation of my self love.

Love me, for I am brilliant.

Well, I love me.

So take that, someone loves me.

This will likely be a normal day with an average blog post, more work on the t-shirts, and maybe some story writing. In fact, I predict high levels of story writing. I can't really put a lot in a post when I haven't done anything today.

Oh well, sucks for you, I'm brilliant.

Friday 19th, 3rd rubric post

I know that I was supposed to visit the museum of contemporary art to see the graffiti artist exhibit. This did not happen because Boston turned into Gotham City over night.

In class: 12:10 - 1:00 I am writing this blog post and continuing to compile all the answers I've received. I will head out and see if Mr. Smith has that graffiti book I asked him about. That's all reletive I guess.

Outside class: various times, I completed the "stars" pair and I've moved on to the "suits" pair in my shirt collection. I've also still got 6 pages of story down. I'll have to edit a lot due to my tendecy of slow plot developement.

Another post. 2nd rubric following post

Since I've last written, I've acquired the shirts (Thank you mommy), written 6 pages of the short story, read "Wall and piece" by Banksy, and spray painted the first shirt in the series. The shirts turned out to be a men's large instead of women's large, so they are too big to be gracefully worn by the average female. I intend to make it work.

In class: 12:30-1:20 I have created another blog post following the rubric on Barker's blog. I have also followed the blogs of my fellow classmates. Most of them at least. I emailed the whole school about electronic surveying because it is less nerve wracking than stopping people on their way to class. I also have the feeling that they would decline if they had to answer to my human real life face. I am already receiving answers. Excellent. This emailing questions is more tiring than I originally anticipated.

Out of class: various times, I have continued mailing out questions and began compiling the received answers. I'm going to spray paint another shirt. Wow I'm tired.

This is when I start following the blog rubric

The senior seminar class is supposed to have many specific things in the posts.

In class: 11:10 - 12:00, I finished conceptualizing the t-shirt designs and I started the short story. The short story is called "Swap" and it's about a woman who trades places with her 18 year old self. The adventures include the 18 year old thinking she is 35 with amnesia and the 35 year old hoping to change her past.

Outside class: various times of the day, cut out the stencils for the suits and practiced spraying them. Added more to the short story.

I couldn't start spraying the first shirt pairing because I didn't have access to the shirts. Supposedly Mom acquired them today. This is where I give a shout out to my mother for dedicating effort towards my life. Thank you Mommy.

Tomorrow I hope to get the first pair of shirts started. Maybe I'll even think about what I'll say to convince Mr. Barker to let me continue my project.

Ta Ta for now.

Monday, April 15, 2013

I wrote basic designs for the shirts and I may or may not have gone too complex with it. Hopefully I'll be able to work with stencils by the time I need to do those designs. Tomorrow will likely be image searching so I can work on the shirts when I actually have the shirts. In other news, Barker hasn't created a post for me to comment on, so I can't very well do that.

Mrs. Moore told me about a graffiti guy in the Boston Institute of Contemporary art. Hopefully I'll be able to visit after my college biz at BU. I do hope everyone in Boston is ok.

Ta ta for now.

First

I have yet to do anything for this project, but if you are lucky, I could post some stuff from my art class as well as my senior seminar class. That is likely to happen.

Today I made a blog. I'm working on thisvery post right now. The fellow students are in the class as we speak working on their blogs. You go guys.

See you on the flipside
